I was very nervous, as I’ve heard horror stories of people losing their horses’ hair before when sending them off to have keepsakes made. I assure you, you will NEVER have to worry about that with Shelby! She put me on her list, and respected that I wasn’t quite ready to have items made. If I remember correctly, I waited upwards of two months before I felt like I was in a place to accept what had happened and have the items made. As soon as she received them, she went to work. She treated my horses both with the utmost respect and made BEAUTIFUL, quality items that I cherish. I sent her the hair of three horses (the two that had died, and my late mother’s horse, as they were all pasture mates for over ten years), and she made two items for me out of just one horse’s hair, and then made combined items out of all three of them. Everything I got was beautiful, AND she returned every. Last. Piece. Of extra hair that I sent her. Some of it she had braided, and returned the braids to me even. They now lay in a shadow box. It was all returned to me wrapped up and cared for with what was obviously sympathy and love. To be good at this job, a person has to be compassionate, loving and patient as well as talented to be able to deal with those of us that are grieving the loss of our best friends. I get teary eyed thinking about my experience working with Shelby, because she is such a kind human and a loving heart. I’ve never met her in person, but she treated me like an old friend and listened to me as I grieved and acted like they were her own horses. I could go on and on and on, but the moral of the story is that I will never use anyone but Heart Horse Creations by Shelby. She helped me navigate one of the worst times of my life and gave me beautiful keepsakes to hold my sweet boys close to my heart all the time. 💛

The best horses in Heaven, they have no tail.

This is a rule they all know without fail.

For when a new horse arrives with a short cut bob, they all know that this horse did a very good job.

His owner could not bear to part with her friend, so she saved his tail,
wrapped in ribbons and in braids,
to hold with his memory in a very loving way.

To enter Heaven without a tail is an honor, a message, that without fail
announces to everyone, far and wide
that this horse was more than a wonderful ride.

But, this horse was loved and cherished by one and when his time serving on this Earth was done, he left behind a broken heart and a soul, from which he never will part.
